Job Description
Our partner is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Project Manager in Quincy, Massachusetts. This hybrid role offers a combination of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility. The position focuses on managing wastewater treatment infrastructure projects from evaluation and design through construction and commissioning. The selected candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies, and support the delivery of wastewater treatment solutions for municipal infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades
Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR)
Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, membrane bioreactors (MBR), sequencing batch reactors (SBR), trickling filters, and advanced treatment systems
Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations
Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering
Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables
Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Support permitting and regulatory compliance activities
Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning support
Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to team development
Build and maintain client relationships and support business development efforts
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering field
Professional Engineer (PE) license
8+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design and process engineering
Experience with municipal wastewater treatment and nutrient removal systems
Experience managing projects and delivering work within budget and schedule requirements
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Experience with process modeling tools such as BioWin or GPS-X preferred
Experience with funding programs such as SRF or USDA Rural Development preferred
Ability to travel approximately 5–10% throughout New England
